Cryptology Nottingham: Rameseize

A good game, a little frustrating at times but overall a good experience. 

Really fun room and our GM Anna was friendly and ran a great game for us. We enjoyed the "get as far as you can" concept so all teams feel they've accomplished something and thought the puzzles were interesting and enjoyable. Also managed to beat the record time!! 

Disappointing ending. After blazing through all the puzzles and with the final hurdle in our eye-line (with roughly 25-30mins left), I feel bitter knowing that a poorly made puzzle meant that our game ended with 20+minutes on one last puzzle. We had solved 90% of what was required with the last answer showing as incorrect. We back tracked over and over again to no avail. The GM could not provide input but that’s not her fault (style of puzzle). When we finished she kindly brought in the cheat sheet to try to show us how it finished. However, she quickly realised that the puzzle was not working as it should so we left it at that as we had other rooms to do. We did have a lot of fun up until that point but feel bitter that our experience was overshadowed by a poorly made puzzle.

A really fun and immersive room, the puzzles were in theme and the set was great. Would have escaped sooner if it wasn’t for a frustrating final puzzle, definitely worth doing though. Host was fantastic.

A clear Egyptian theme throughout. 

Solid puzzles, good flow and signposting.

Definitely one of their easier games.

An overall fun game, nothing too impressive but nice set design and some good puzzles, maybe a few more could have been sprinkled in here and there. Some tricky elements in the game where i’m unsure how you would get round the puzzle if you weren't physically able to do it (shakey hands for example) 

A really solid Egyptian themed room that was a lot of fun. 

Well thought out room with nice set dressing, very funny GM and a good bit of adrenaline at the end. Variable difficulty with how much you can do to complete the room which is a really nice touch. 

Solid Egyptian theme room with some solid puzzles. Enjoyable 

Fun, probably good for families but nothing really stands out as a wow. 

Loved the fact the hosts/GM’s brief in character. Immediately helps with immersion if done well (which ours did). Setting and design is great with a great little clue system. We managed to complete the room in its entirety completing the bonus challenge. It’s a real step up from Cypheryne which after playing that I was dubious that I was in for poor day of escaping, how wrong was I? 

We always knew getting all three relics would be a challenge with only two of us, but we were happy coming away with two and getting a good chunk of the way towards the third!

I love the way Cryptology structure their rooms so that "escaping" is a sufficient challenge for all experience levels, keeping you sufficiently busy and getting value for money. Plus lots of in-theme, tactile puzzles.

The host was marvellous throughout, as was the hint system and theming.

Only (very minor) gripes were with an unintentionally temperamental light source.

Love the Egyptian theme! So much fun to work through and a decent amount of puzzles - a couple were a little tricky so glad we had a bigger team so multiple people could look at a puzzle if someone was stuck. Great use of space and a great variety of puzzles.

First ever room attempted on my own and loved the experience, got hung up on a couple of puzzles which with other players might have been solved, as with all the rooms at Cryptology the design and playability is fantastic and definitely worth playing

A fantastic set that we loved working our way through to collect the three relics and escape the tomb. There were some super physical challenges with some clever puzzles that linked beautifully with the theme.

Our Achilles' heel came with the penultimate puzzle, which - judging by lots of the other reviews and blogs - has frustrated a few other teams too.

Saying that, we really enjoyed this game, as we love a classic theme and a room that feels immersive and theatrical.

Some simple in nature ideas executed brilliantly and provided some great aha moments along the way. The game is dark but lanterns were provided to ensure this didn't impact the solving negatively. Really varied puzzles and simply a lot of fun!
