The Escapement: Egyptian Exodus

Some Clever puzzle design, space was a little small, but was never boring!

This room is a real disappointment, which is suprising given the usual quality of Escapement. The room itself is tiny (and feels weirdly claustrophobic), the puzzles are quite odd and feel a bit obtuse at times - there’s no satisfaction when solving them. I was just sort of thinking ‘but why?’ the whole way through. The finale is rubbish as well and there’s not really enough to do. A very forgettable experience which is a shame! Also not sure what the name of this room is??? Project Exodus or Egyptian Tomb? Pick one I guess!

This one really divided opinion between the two of us, as it really wasn't my favourite but the other half of our team really liked it.

Decor-wise, this is superb. There are some delightful puzzles in here but a couple I just didn't quite get on with, so that probably skewed my opinion of a very decent game!

Hosting here is excellent and we felt very well looked after.

This is the 4th Escapement game we have played and I'm afraid we really did'nt gel with it at all.  I rated the other Escapement games all between 4 and 5 but this one was very small in comparison, the puzzles seemed very illogical and there were not that many at all to do.  We struggled so much to get off the starting blocks taking 35mins to do the first puzzle but then we did the whole of the rest of it in 24mins.  The final puzzle to get out is'nt really even a puzzle its so easy which was a big anti climax?  Usually a room with some sand on the floor and temple/tomb themes and we love it but we did'nt really enjoy this one at all I am afraid, sorry.

The set was amazing but I felt the puzzles in this room were not good.  A couple were very tedious and repetitive and some were just badly formed.  The host said that it was the "most difficult room in Margate" but I don't think the puzzles were hard per se, people just struggle because they aren't good, logical puzzles.

Just felt some of the puzzles were a leap, and some were tedious (reading / translating). 

Set is amazing, but for us the weakest of the 3. 

Immersion and theming is great here, and puzzles all feel like a lot of thought has gone into them to make them less standard. Our host James was great. Only criticisms are that the finale puzzle felt a bit lazy and easy compared to the others and some of the props are a bit worn and difficult to see. Otherwise, a really good game and just wish there was more of it!

After playing the dark Polaris this was a breath of fresh air as Egypt is bright! Great theming of the puzzles and the absence of padlocks was refreshing. I personally loved the puzzles in this game as they play to my strengths, but I can imagine that this is an infuriating room for some players.
Great story and great host who kept wonderfully in character throughout. I has a great time. 

Middle of the road game. Was hyped up a lot before playing so may have influenced enjoyment. Much better and more challenging games out there.

A solid and fun game although my least favourite of the 3 at The Escapement (mainly because the other two are SO GOOD rather than as a detriment to this game).  Theme wise the egyptian tomb is familiar, but the puzzles are well designed in terms of fit and the game does feel immersive despite its small space. We had a slightly over keen GM (absolutely lovely, but we'd asked for no hints and in his over-enthusiasm he kept forgetting and telling us things). Probably would shift a couple of things around to change the end order for the game if I could - was slightly surprised by the end - but we had a good time.
