Wow! Ein unglaubliches Dekor, flüssige Rätsel, tolles Acting und ein mega Finale. Geht und spielt dieses Spiel!
This escape room is rated no. 9 best in the world 2025 by Terpeca. We travelled all the way from Denmark to Barcelona because we had heard so much about the escape rooms here, so of course we were very excited, and of course a bit sceptical from the start about whether it would fulfil our high expectations.
And my honest answer... It was worth all the hype!
The immersiveness was the best I have ever tried. From the moment you step into the building, you are already beginning your experience. The actors/hosts greet you, and they do not break character at any time during your stay.
Our hosts were Aida and Ainhoa, and they did the most amazing job!
I will not spoil anything for you, but you will move around a whole world they have built for you. You start in the tavern, listening to the story of your pirate ancestors, and from there the story just unfolds while you solve puzzles and open up the world. It is like being in a movie or a beautiful RPG video game.
You move through so many amazing rooms that all feel very real and connected in one big world. When I entered the last room, I gasped at how impressive and beautiful it was.
The puzzles are medium difficulty, but because of how immersive the world is, you will also spend a lot of time just looking around and taking everything in, so the difficulty fits the experience.
If you are stuck, you will get some help, but again, it will not be on a screen or through a talking system like in classic escape rooms. This is also done very elegantly by having the people in the story help you without breaking character.
If I should give some feedback, it would be that sometimes it was a bit difficult to hear the voices from the speakers, there was a single mechanism that did not work(a doorbell), and if you have bad eyesight, it can be a bit challenging to decode some puzzles in the dim light. But these are small things that do not take away from the fact that this was a 5/5 star experience.
This is so much more than an escape room. I would call it an immersive escape experience instead.
We travelled to Barcelona from Denmark and took the train 1.5 hours from the city centre to reach this escape room, and I can still say that it was worth it all. This has to be the best escape room I have ever tried so far. We are going to try a few others in Barcelona, and I am very excited to see if this is the general quality of escape rooms in this area.
Thanks for an amazing experience.
Understandably rated as one of the best games in the world. Simply breathtaking.
WOW WOW WOW. No spoilers, nothing at all. You have to experience this to truly comprehend how fantastic this experience is! I would not change a thing, apart from I wish it could last for many many hours. The hosting was brilliant, the set was out of this world, and the puzzles were cleverly integrated. Yes it's a little out of barcelona, but it's undeniably worth the trip. Play it!
I am so torn writing this review because I can see why people would rate La Taberna so highly. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't so great, but that is in no way because of the construction of game itself (yes, it looks absolutely stunning) nor our 2 amazing gamemasters.
When we played, Spain was having a heatwave, temperatures of 41 degrees outside. The only area inside of the building that we encountered was in the initial tavern itself. As we exited the tavern, the temperature inside absolutely soared. The rest of the game was like playing in a sauna. I actually blacked out part way through the game. The gamemasters provided bottled water and a small hand fan at the half way point but with another hour of game play to go they were drops in the ocean. Considering that this is the #1 rated game in Spain, the only thing we'll be remembering about this game was the intense heat.
So, the good bits. The game is beautifully constructed with a high attention to detail throughout. The puzzles and tasks are varied and not overly difficult, which is important considering the length of the game.
As I mentioned above, our 2 gamemasters were an absolute delight to interact with and did an excellent job telling the story and keeping us well paced - thank you Albert & Dante!
The special effects throughout the game are exciting and really add to the immersive atmosphere.
So, a review of 2 halves and I'm sure anyone who plays outside of summer would have a wonderful experience. But just leaving my little warning to anyone thinking of playing over the summer to be prepared (It's not just me, there's a string of Google reviews from the last few weeks of other who couldn't enjoy the game because they were also busy being hot human soup for 2 hours).
