This is the latest room at Puzzled and you can see why it has taken a couple of years to get ready. It has some great moments, great puzzles once in the flow of how the room worked it was just perfect. This is probably the most high tech room that we have ever done and it was seamless with everything working exactly as it should. My only slight issue was once we got into the game it flowed a little too easy and was over before we wanted but would be great for a less experienced team or family team. Even though we finished with some time to spare I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the game.
Again we were lucky enough to have the game ran by the game designer and he talked us through some of the bits and how it was made and discussed how he is still working on maybe changing the room a little in the future.
If you are anywhere near this company and suggest you play this game at the very least but suggest you play all 3 from a great understated company just outside of Cardiff.
I had high hopes for this room after seeing it come 19th in the UK Escape Room Awards, but unfortunately I came away from it a little disappointed. The space theme is a crowded genre in UK escape rooms - you've got really great ones like Orbital, Galacticus, Citizen Erased and many other rooms use a similar theme. I didn't feel that this one got particularly close to the heights of those three above.
In terms of the good, the tech is great and there are some really great moments. The puzzles are thematic and link in well. The story makes sense throughout and the set design is pretty good for the assumed budget and space that they had.
In terms of the not so good - I found it a little bit empty. I felt like it needed a bit more music/ambience, maybe some more audio/video moments. I also thought that the puzzles, while technically impressive, weren't particularly difficult - especially when it was signposted what you needed to do at each turn. It felt more like a room for families or beginners than enthusiasts.
I also thought the hosting was a little average. i was a bit confused afterwards about one of the puzzles too and how it was supposed to work - especially the explanation given at the end - but the owner has since cleared that part up. It seems it wasn’t well explained afterwards which they will work on improving.
All in all it's well put together, and probably good for families or less experienced players, and especially if you are not experienced with the space theme. Wasn't for me unfortunately.
Update: The owner was very nice and contacted me afterwards and stressed they are always looking to improve the room over time, so any future experiences may be different to mine!
Great story, clean puzzles, fantastic tech and wow moments reminded me of European rooms, must play if near Cardiff
Oh my god GO and play this game. I can’t put into words how fun it is. The tech is off the charts but not in an overwhelming way. I met the owner who gave us a tour of how they achieved certain things in the game and we came away with a patch for playing on opening weekend. It’s immense. Better than their other games! You won’t regret it.
