I picked Cube for our second game at Mystiqueroom because it was their highest rated, without really knowing what the theme was. As it turned out, the stronger half of the room design clearly takes inspiration from the sci-fi movie of the same name, though fortunately with fewer death traps; the rest is more generic ‘science lab’, with an emphasis on anything cubic.
Much more than in their sister room Pirate Bay I found the puzzles here interesting and original. They tend to use electronic interfaces with buttons, screens and switches, which might not appeal to everyone; but the space is big enough and interesting enough to give a sense of exploration, and the game components tend to be big and chunky and interactive, so it still manages to feel grounded in physicality.
It was still bumpy in a couple of places. We had to ask for an override to get past the very first puzzle, and I’m still not sure whether that was us not managing to press the buttons correctly or whether something had gone wrong with the tech.
Mystiqueroom have well over a dozen games to choose from (including five new ones recently opened at a second address). Having only played two of them I can’t comment on whether Cube is the best one to pick from their offerings; but I suspect it’s at least one of their stronger rooms, and ought to be a safe option if you’re choosing one to play. 4 / 5
