Although this room was rated 5/5 difficulty, we decided to give it a try because it was 50% off. We went in knowing it would be challenging and that we probably wouldn't escape, which didn't bother us. However, we didn't expect it to feel almost impossible. Very little made sense to us, even after it was "explained" at the end.
The room is set inside a shipping container and was EXTREMELY cold - so much so that it made the experience uncomfortable and distracting, and at times we considered leaving early because of it. One of the maglock doors was supposed to open as part of the game, but we couldn't get it open despite pushing against it with our full body weight. A member of staff had to come in and do the same several times before it eventually opened. We were told this was due to the container being too cold, causing the lock to stick.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this room due to the very low temperature, especially as it could easily be improved with a portable heater like the one used in their other container rooms.
I thoroughly enjoyed this room - the fact that it's set inside an old prison van is a unique concept. Being separated from your teammates at the start adds an exciting twist, and it's really satisfying when you eventually come back together.
The variety of puzzles were great, and I found the whole experience really fun and engaging - only needing support with a few parts. Although the timer was not visible for the first few minutes, once we mentioned it, a member of staff quickly came in to fix it and even added a few extra minutes, which we really appreciated.
Be aware that this room is extremely cramped at the start, and may not be suitable for all people.
I would definitely recommend this room!
Firstly this rooms theming is incredible, it genuinely feels like and old submarine! I think however this leads to a major flaw, it's rather empty with little to fill it and few places to hide possible items (there weren't many).
The puzzles themselves were rather slow and dull with little of the desired tension you want from a good room.
The main let down was the final puzzle, we did it correctly and nothing happened cos the tech was broken. We asked for help and nothing. We ended up just sitting on the floor waiting. Eventually the game master came in to ask what was happening. He looked at the completed final puzzle and was like year that's correct the techs just broken. So he manually had to force it open. It turned out he also couldn't see we had done it correctly over the cameras as the periscope was in the way, which seems like a huge oversight on the company's part.
We did a second room here hoping it would be better but it was worse.
I would not recommend coming here if you are an escape enthusiast, the company is not bothered by their rooms just more interested in their golf and axe throwing.
It's a shame to have to write that any escape room enthusiasts should avoid this room!
We did another room at this location before this one which was wasn't the best but this one was really poor.
The host was nice but when we entered the room it hadn't been reset and we even saw some of the solutions. A lot of the basic tech was broken! At one point we had solved a puzzle and nothing happened, so we asked the game master what we needed to do and they told us to do the puzzle we had already completed and then we're confused when we kept saying we already had.
The theming was weak and the order of puzzles seemed illogical. Unfortunately the location for escape rooms just seemed poorly run and the company is more focused on their indoor golf and axe throwing!
Inside a large warehouse with golf and axe throwing.
Omg we couldn’t hear the hints of each other talking. The noise from the axe throwing was outrageous.
The game was ok, it was “an escape room” but a bank of 25 lockers with 25 different number locks does not make a good experience.
The game is in a shipping container, which does not do the game any harm.
But the game is simply slow, you need to be told where to look for things as there's little signposting. There's a complete lack of atmosphere, and is just woefully bad.
Beautiful room that was very immersive. However there wasn’t really a story. There was some clever and thematic puzzles that we really enjoyed however there was some technical difficulties and some unclear solutions. With that all being said it was a fun and immersive experience and would definitely go back again. The 47% off offer made this room incredible value for money. Hosts were polite and great.
This used to be a difficult room in it's previous guise as The Cabin... What Lies Beneath. The storyline has been mildly altered but the puzzles remain the same except for the fact that most of them have been removed! What's left is disappointingly easy hence us finishing in 30 minutes with a sense of 'is that it?'
Immersion is ruined by the loud punkish music being played through the venue even at 10am in the morning plus at other times the indoor golf course can be clearly heard.
If you want to play it, play on a Wednesday when all the rooms here are half price (at time of writing).
I wasn't a fan of this room - as with the other new rooms here it is built in a shipping container so the borders of the room are clear before you go in.
Non-linear game that didn't flow well for us at all, puzzles seemed quite random, nothing new and no great a-ha moments.
If you really want to play it, play on a Wednesday and pay half price, it's not worth full price.
As with all of the new rooms here, this is based in a shipping container so you know the parameters of the space before you start. Nothing new for enthusiasts but a nice, solid game. Hosting was enthusiastic and hints provided appropriately with a sense of humour.
