Gozsdu Mission: White Mission

We had scheduled this room last on our way back to the airport after an exhausting few days in Budapest and perhaps that wasn't the best idea, especially as there were only two of us to work through the whole room. It had warned it wasn't the standard escape room experience and it definitely relied more on mathematics than some of the snazzier high tech puzzles you can find in some of the other Budapest rooms. By the end of it we found ourselves tired and frustrated. A number of puzzles required outside knowledge such as the value of different Roman numerals or mathematical concepts that were not provided inside the room so if you didn't just know them you wouldn't have been able to solve the puzzles. The mechanism to open a box to get out a key was also broken so even though we had solved the puzzle the key wasn't released. The games master clearly had not been playing attention and didn't realise what had happened so kept referring us back to things we had already completed to try and help us solve the puzzle which made us more and more confused before eventually coming into the room and realising we had already found the solution but the mechanism was broken. The delay cost us about ten minutes and meant we didn't complete the room in time so that was also disappointing, though they did let us play on for an extra few minutes so we could finish. Considering the concept of the room was that everything is bright white, it was all a bit dirty and grubby. Overall the room seems quite tired and run down.

We only got 60 minutes. I don't know why it says you have 90 minutes here.

Good things: A cool atypical room. I liked the "high koncept" theme of having an all white room. I also liked a lot of the puzzles as long as you are okay with most of them being "IQ test" kind of puzzles. 

Less good things: I think the room was a little worn. It could have been better build to give the impressive "all white room" feeling. The mechanics felt a little "heavy" but they worked as intended. If you have tried some of the other extremely immersive and beautiful escape rooms on Budapest this might feel a little dull (but try it anyway - it's fun to try something new) 

Story/theme: The theme of an all white room was super cool. It didn't need a story 

Puzzles: All puzzles were made so you had to think very logical and mathematical. Most of the puzzles were great. There was maybe 1-2 that were not to my liking. I felt a little frustrated at times but I think it was because of the difficulty and not because of the design of the puzzles. Some padlocks and keys in this room. 

Room/decorations: Cool but with potential for improvement. It felt a little worn and could use a touch up. I loved the idea of having an all white room which will slowly transform while solving the puzzles. 

Hosting/company/hints: Sweet staff. I was not a fan of the hint system. You have to push a button to get manual help. It was a little difficult to hear the instructions over the speaker some times. We got 2 hints. 

Difficulty: 10/10 on their website. I would definitely say that it was one of the harder escape rooms I've tried. We didn't make it and missed maybe 2-3 of the last puzzles to get out. Even though it was hard I still liked the puzzles. 

Photos: You are allowed to take photos inside the rooms while playing and they will also take a team picture in the end if you ask. 

We didn't really enjoy this room, I think you get about 90 minutes but it was too long and was far too frustrating for us. There was to much to do for 2 people and by the end we just wanted to get out the room and go get a drink lol. 

Fantastic concept, however quite run down some broken items  which needed GM to enter the room and address. Requires very sharp vision even when well lit and some knowledge of maths and languages where help is not offered in the room

Such an easy yet effective idea of a completely white room to disorientate you to start and then unfolds in to a great room. There's no need for a story here as the concept and puzzles are more than enough to make this a room stand high in our list of escape rooms. The room has since been bought by EscapeKent in Canterbury under a new name of The Asylum. Budapest is a must for any escape holiday plans!
