Mighty Oaks

We decided to do this last-minute after having a great time in the Outatime room. Sadly, this game did not get anywhere close to the high standards we were expecting. The game is very simple and we blitzed through it in no time at all. We knew it was a different style game to your usual escape room, but for the price and the advertised 1hr duration we expected much more than we got.

Loved our time with the other rooms but found this one more frustrating than fun. We had booked to do all of Tulleys' rooms while we were visiting the area and let the GM know we weren't fans of scary themes but wanted to give it a go anyway to complete the set. We were also a team of 2 and obviously this room has a lot going on (apparently they now offer 90 minute bookings which weren't available at the time).

Sadly, the GM let us waste half our time trying over and over again with a dexterity puzzle that we knew the solution to but just couldn't execute, instead insisting on jump-scaring us repeatedly despite us asking in advance for this not to happen and getting visibly frustrated in the room. Eventually with about 20 minutes left to go the GM activated their manual over-ride for the puzzle, which should have been done much earlier.

Back then their whole schtick was to give you a discount voucher when you inevitably fail so you can come back and pay to do it all over again. We won't.

We went into this knowing it was supposed to be an "adventure experience" rather than an escape room. Got off to a bad start as the venue asked us to arrive 20 minutes before our booked time slot, which we did, and in that time they tried to sell us drinks and then left us waiting around. While we were waiting the bar staff were offering help to people already in their rooms via a walkie-talkie and de-briefing a team which had just completed the room we were about to enter. We had to try to avoid listening so as to avoid any potential spoilers.

Eventually got into the room 10 minutes later than our booked time. Tech broke constantly. Host was uncommunicative when help was needed to get past the broken parts. Host entered the room on multiple occasions to fix things and provide items that should have been in the room for us already. The story made no sense and the acting was awful. The whole experience was boring and dragged on way too long for what it was.

Afterwards we were "de-briefed" by a completely different member of staff who had not been involved during our time in the room. We were given a score of "B+" but not told what this means or how we could have done better. They offered us a discount code and told us we would really like a couple of their horror-themed rooms without asking if we like horror themes (we don't).

They removed some puzzles because we were a team of 2. They shouldn't have.
