Very first game I had ever played with my mum. Still one of my all time favourites, even though we didn't get out! Some really creative puzzles, which I didn't fully appreciate at the time, but certainly do now!
Played this one a week after playing our first game (Legacy). Can't say I enjoyed this one as much as Legacy, but the kids seemed to like it more. There were some creative puzzles in it, and the odd jumpscare (don't think it was supposed to scare me but it did!) Great hosting once again!
Very first escape room I played back in the day and still one of my absolute favourites! Great puzzles that I still haven't seen since which is always a sign of a good room!

As others have said here, the decor and setting are really cool and a little creepy! Fun puzzles and a nice surprise inside, the starting point was really intriguing. As always with Escapism, the hosting was brilliant and they didn’t give anything away beforehand.
This was the second game from Escapism I had played, after Legacy. I thoroughly enjoyed the overall ambience and decor.
I'm writing this review after having completing the five current rooms in Escapism, Chester. I'm gladly putting a five stars to this lovely and efficient escape room company. Their rooms felt very unique and all the staff we encountered were passionate about their rooms. The room of Escapism that clearly stood out was The Missing, which was really atmospheric with a low amount of padlocks, to instead privilege hands-on puzzles. We had a blast! If you're travelling by train to do their escape rooms, I can't recommend enough to follow the river and the fortifications from the train station to their location, it's a really lovely walk.
If You Go Down to the Woods Today...
My second visit to Escapism was a lot more enjoyable (and successful!)
Story
Explore the forest, where people have been going missing, to try and find out why they're disappearing. The reason why is never actually explained...are we a part of the police force, or just a group of curious pals?
Puzzles
An engaging and challenging variety that made use of our senses. We often broke up into smaller groups to solve them. They needed wit and skill in equal measure!
Mise-en-scène
You begin 'outside' (as in, the forest), which is a different kind of start, and the darkness and sounds made for an eerie experience. Sadly, this kind of toned down after getting into the cabin. Disappointingly-cheap props dragged me out of the immersion.
Final Comments
We got out with no more than five minutes to spare. Our Game Operator had a very dry sense of humour which was enjoyed by all, haha. I'd recommend a team of 4-5.

Escapism Plymouth: The Missing
Overview
This was our second room in Escapism in Plymouth after just completing Legacy an hour before hand. Our host was called Mikayla, she was the host for our first room as well. The waiting area is very minimalistic without anywhere to really sit down apart from a window bench going down the length of the building. There was a refreshment area and a big cabinet selling a lot of home escape games. Mikayla didn’t need to run through the introductions again due to just completing a room but previously she had ran through the type of padlocks that are to be found in the room, which is always a nice refresher into the usage of the many different padlocks found in escape rooms.
Room impression
The room is dark when you first go in. We were given torches but not enough for all of us and even though I have personally got very good eyes in the dark, I still struggled without a torch so you may well be walking around like zombies feeling everything before you move on. However, as soon as you do move on then you will be fine. There was a good amount ion background noises to make sure the room wasn’t completely silent which is always nice. Everything is decorated to a high standard and you can quickly see that there will be a lot of padlocks to get through!!
Puzzles
The puzzles in the game are what we would call ‘classic’ escape room puzzles. Plenty of padlocks and a good mixture of different puzzles thrown in to mix it up nicely. With the codes that you get in this room you will up trying them in nearly every padlock although like we have mentioned, there are lot of different varied padlocks and you can narrow down your options due to this. That being said, the puzzles were enjoyable and we managed to get through them all without much encouragement. We did come stuck at one point but that was our own fault due to not looking hard enough.
Game Master Clues
Mikayla was able to type on the tv timer screen to give us a nudge and she was quite happy to leave us to it as we do work well together but when we did need the help in this one she did with speed and a bit of humour. The tv makes a noise if you do receive a hint to make sure you don’t miss it, which is a nice touch.
Round Up
Escapism is a nice little jewel in Plymouth. We have been really impressed with the two rooms that we have now done, Legacy and Missing. We have enjoyed them so much that we are booked in to try their 2 new rooms in a couple of weeks. The staff are really friendly and the rooms are of high quality. They aren’t the most difficult rooms in the world that we have tried but they are certainly challenging enough that everyone should have a cracking time visiting here. We looking forward to coming back again and again.
