The game systems used by this company are not very good, it is very hard to see what you can and cannot click on.
As with the other games, the interface is sound and we've not had an issue with the mechanics of either logging on or glitches. Inventory is easy to use and everything is intuitive with game play allowing individual exploration/investigation.
Difficult to rate this one - we went from liking some of the puzzles to really disliking some of them - it's a very hit and miss game with some odd rationale behind the dislike e.g. we may have missed something and had to force solve one of the puzzles also (potential spoiler) why give you a tension bar for the lockpick and then not require it being used, why use different sound effects on the same thing if it doesn't mean anything.
However, some of it was novel and one of the puzzles we actively liked as we hadn't seen it before and it needed us to talk it out to get to the solution.
Definitely on the tricky side and requires a leap of faith for some of the solutions, but not actively disliked.
This played fine - although darker on a windows screen (even at maximum brightness) than on a mac which meant that one of us was at a disadvantage as there were quite a lot of dark details that required at least some visibility.
Some pixel hunting that was challenging on laptops, but other than that, the game played well and had no bugs. All the puzzles were fair, themed and tied together well and the hints were targeted to the correct stage in the game as you would expect.
Hasn't put us off playing others by the group, but would probably go for less "atmospheric" (deliberately dark) storylines.
What a disappointment! Playing this as a pre Christmas bit of fun but nearly gave up without finishing. The clues and answers didn't relate, with a simple graphics system and when we did give up and clicked through to the answers on some of the puzzles, the explanations didn't make sense either. Sad that I paid to lose 90 minutes with zero enjoyment. We are an experienced couple with 20+ in person escape rooms completed and 20+ virtual/online but this will be sitting at the bottom of our list.
Find and place the masks on the altars before the island sinks!
We liked the design of this game, but the puzzles let it down. It switched between puzzles where you just had to read the solution and input it (maybe find different sites) and completely illogical puzzles where you had to read the mind of the creator and some where after we got the hints and the solution we still would not have solved it that way. Even the counting puzzle was flawed and we had to take a hint to get it right (we counted too many - BECAUSE THEY WERE THERE and it wasn't clear why they should not be counted). This is a game that makes you feel stupid and then curse the designers. We actually liked one of their other games (North Pole) but after this we will not be playing the last two of their games.
This is a completely virtual experience. Navigation with arrows - no 360 degree views as in some other games. Hint system is there but also flawed. We always had to go all the way to the solution because the first hints were the obvious things and then you got the solution.
Also - starts with wall of text... that you didn't need before much later. Not the way to convey a story.
If you are new to online escape rooms, I would recommend starting off with this game or something similiar. Virtual's set up does well where players can go off on their own in the game. There is also an inbuilt communication so you don't have to worry about organising Zoom. A typical school style theme with good level of puzzles.
Good value for money, and the platform was okay to play in. Out of all of Virtual Games offerings this room would be their weakest. I've never played a game (online or physical and im 90+) where you have to keep on inputting a code to access a door that has already been sovled, it is a time eater & frustrating. Once something is opened it should stay open. Also when scaling the intensity of the puzzles, you shouldn't be resorting to being illogical and extremely vague - be more creative and add more layers, referencing, add another medium.
