Escapable: Prank Heist

I'm going to sound a bit mean here, but if this was any other company I'd have given this room an additional half star. I will say straight away that there isn't anything actually wrong with Prank Heist, it's a lovely little room, especially for beginners. Unfortunatley Escapable have set themselves up as one of the most innovative and original escape room hosts in the UK, and this one just isn't up there with their last few rooms. 

Firstly the good stuff. The puzzles all make sense, the theme is spot on, and there are a few moments that really make you smile. The clues all flow really well, and you can tackle the various puzzles reasonably independantly so you won't be standing around while others complete tasks. We didn't need any clues at all, and some of the puzzles were charming and original. I really would recommend this to new players, it's a great introduction to puzzle solving and how escape rooms work. 

Secondly, the not quite as good stuff (nothing bad). Firstly for experienced players it's probably going to be a bit TOO easy. We are a team of two who generally need the occasional clue and as much time as possible, but the main game was completed in about 35-40 minutes. The bonus game was good to get a bit of extra value, and we got all twelve stink bombs and were out by around 54 minutes. I would guess with 3-6 players you could finish in record time. That being said, sometimes you do just need a nice feel-good room, and if so, this might be it. I've had a few where we were frustrated at ridiculous puzzles or bad hosting, and doing one where you just ace it really does wonders for your game confidence! 

The other thing I think it needs is just a little extra on the silly factor. For a game based around pranks, you don't really get to 'play' any. (MINOR SPOILER - A game based on a whoopee cushion shouldn't really end without someone having to sit on it, just saying). There are props/references to pranks we played as kids, but I think if you weren't of that era you might not even recognise what they are. Again, any other company i'd ignore that, but this is a company that created Marv the Monkey, a game that had many of us laughing a lot of the way through. 

It's a good room though. Ignore my negativity. Still my favourite escape room company by far and I'm only picky because I care 🙂 

Such a great game. The team have put alot of effort into making this game suit both beginners and enthusiasts. We really enjoyed the theme and lay out to this room. It kept us very busy. We managed the main criteria of the game in around 40 mins and collected 7 of the extras in just under the hour mark. Great hosting from Michael too. It was one of the more enjoyable games we've played. We can't wait for more games to come from these guys 

Another gem of a room at the wonderful Escapable!! Original puzzles that are all on theme and great hosting. Have played over 100 games and Escapable is still our favourite venue. 

Brilliant! Lots of tasks to complete at the same time making it ideal for families. Enjoyed finding the stink bombs meaning we felt we got value for money. Some original puzzles... Especially the task for getting in to the final room!

A great nostalgic trip down memory lane with this room set in a classroom, and with my wife being a teacher she felt right at home too!

Lots of great puzzles with many, many padlocks (I mean, who doesn't love a lock based room?) and it was well themed throughout the whole experience. Definitely recommend the harder version for enthusiasts to collect the stink bombs, always enjoy a secondary challenge! 

If it's wacky fun and a bit of witty silliness you want in an escape room, then this room gets an A.

Escapable do those clever little touches that make an escape room feel cared about very well; the enjoyment that came from creating the room is obvious in every puzzle. The set up really allows all ages and abilities to access this room; there's a main question then a puzzle-filled sub-quest, which can only be attempted once the main quest is completed. It is a super format that works incredibly well here.

Puzzles are all lovely, handmade and very in keeping with the theme and - as a teacher - the genuine classroom aesthetic was very much appreciated.

It's a delight.

A great room which is well thought out. We played with 2 players who haven’t done escape rooms and there was really something for us all to contribute and keep us busy. Loved it and would highly recommend :).
