Enjoyed this room, it had some things I’ve never seen before which always gets kudos when you’ve done quite a few rooms! Unfortunately there were a few things that knocked points which were 1. Being able to open the door with the wrong code.. I think we were close and would have got it but I hate not knowing and questioned putting ‘successful escape’ which just takes away the sense of achievement. Secondly without giving too much away, an audio clue which involved a lot of waiting around to get to the part we needed - felt like wasting time we’d rather have spent solving clues rather than waiting.
Dont want these negatives to take away from the originality, friendly service and fun room so would recommend!
Some completely unique puzzles which we really enjoyed solving, a certain venn diagram had us scratching our heads for a while before realising the solution and having a very satisfying aha! moment. One element we found very impressive and hadn’t seen before was the use of cameras to look in spaces we wouldn’t normally be able to access, this was really unique and we really enjoyed it.
We really like that most of the rooms here have a bonus objective too, the one for this room was just difficult enough and working together to solve a more complex puzzle was great fun!
Also…Hovis. Enough said, 11/10
We played this with my mum, who wasn’t feeling very confident at the start but by the end came out thrilled. We really enjoyed the range of puzzles and the different tools/props to use in the room. There was one puzzle we thought we’d used the right logic for but ended up just solving by searching that we were a little unsure of at the end, but other than that a really good room!
Came out with a smiles on our faces, a very fun room. We managed to blitz through the room and finish in a very fast time, but did not feel short-changed: the puzzles were engaging and varied enough for a team of 4 to never be bored. Pacing for our team was very high throughout - could do with a final finale to slow things down and bring the team together at the end. The atmosphere of the game was okay, but could be improved with some special effects.
Had some different aspects to it than others. Loved the theme. I can't exactly put my finger on why it's not deserving of a higher rating. Wasn't quite reset properly though.
A lot of fun in this room, but the final part got a bit repetitive and there wasn't enough to do for a large team in the final moments. However I do believe this is being worked on, and I did this a while ago.
Definitely one to do in Sheffield if you like escape rooms!
Wow! This was awesome! We came back as my girlfriend wanted to meet the lil' Corgi Hovis, but we left really satisfied with a well designed room.
The website said this was their middle difficulty room but we found it was on the easier side, but I think that was just because the designer clearly spent a lot of time making sure the puzzles were explained well, so it wasn't difficult to follow the instructions and solve the puzzles, still satisfying!
This was needed because there were a lot of 'out there' designs and unique stuff so clear explanations were required. All in all really good
A good game with some novel puzzles, striking a balance of skill and mental tasks. Good theming, which was fairly immersive.
Not Quite Out of This World
I visited this Sheffield room over others as it was the only to accept student
discount (20%) on a weekend.
Story
Infiltrate an ‘experimental prison ship’ and steal a bio sample before aliens get
you.
Puzzles
They lacked a clear theme, varying from astronomy to chemistry and…shapes? A technological/machine-operating
element was present throughout the whole game. This was fun at first, but got a
little tedious by the end. They were of intermediate difficulty- we required a pointer
on a couple of occasions.
Mise-en-scene
The most disappointing aspect. This room felt bare, and looked absolutely
nothing like a prison ship. The overall design was stark and tacky, especially the
“suggestion of a previous grisly event” which looked a bit like a primary
school art project.
Final Comments
We got out with a few minutes to spare-
there probably would have been ten minutes or more left on the timer had we not
made a silly mistake with the final puzzle (neither of us realised we had
already solved it- our fault!). Deep Space Brig was okay, and I wouldn't mind
trying out the other upcoming rooms. However, I'd also be tempted to pay full
price and visit one of the more central escape room companies next time.
