The room is simple in itself. Escape from your cell and prison. Some great puzzles but some rather tricky ones too if you are a small group. As a team of 3 I would’ve like to have been in the other room to allow the majority of my team to be on the outside of the cell as I did struggle on my own and some of the non-linear puzzles were hard to understand. This didn’t take away the fun however.
I do feel that some of the puzzles could use some TLC as they were tricky to use and in some cases could become a problem later on. The room is also very warm so dress appropriately. We did 4 games in a row and I think mentally we were done by this room. We will be back to redeem ourselves.
Really fun room and enjoyed how it plays with teamwork and cooperation to complete its puzzles. It’s very low tech but in a charming way. We found it pretty difficult as a team of 2 (but this didn’t come as a surprise as the staff had warned us it’s hard at 2) but had a great time nonetheless. Most of our difficulties as a team of two were with the quantity of the puzzles rather than the puzzles in themselves being particularly hard (though we did stumble and waste a fair chunk of time with one or two).
Had a blast! Really enjoyed the use of some very clever low-tech puzzles here.
Despite the theme being horror-adjacent it doesn’t feel like an unsettling or intense room at all (which isn’t a criticism, just an observation that might be useful for anyone deciding if this room is for them).
A first gen escape room that would be great to introduce people to the concept of escape rooms or if you are in north wales for a holiday and are jonesing for an escape room fix.
It is quite a plain room but having worked in a post office I can honestly say that it is actually very like the real thing… thankfully it didn’t have Horizon…
I liked the puzzles - a mix of linear and non-linear at different difficulty levels. Everything flowed and we didn’t need clues.
We took my parents along, it was my dad’s third and mum’s debut. They loved it. Really helped having them along because - as is usual - we overthought a few puzzles.
If you finish with a lot of time left you can attempt another round of puzzles. We were going a bit slow to give parents chance to see/solve themselves so didn’t get to that part. The completer finisher in me was a little frustrated we didn’t get to do everything, although our lovely host Ella told us nobody has been able to finish 100%.
Only criticism is I’m still not 100% about what Spug is and am kicking myself for not asking! They do turn you around quite quickly if they have a team in afterwards.
We will come back another time to try the prisoner room and the new room they’re building.
Set in the council offices and up a couple of flights of stairs - poss issue for those with accessibility issues but you can take it slow.
