We ended a mini escape room holiday with Marvo’s and what a finale it was!

As soon as we got to the venue the high levels of detail and quality were event just from the shop front. The fun began immediately, having to follow the clues to the secret entrance where we were greeted by atmospheric music that set the tone for what was to come. The waiting area was a true feast for the eyes with a cacophony of film artefacts, building on the pending excitement for the room. Our games master, Lizzie, was clearly passionate about the business and made us feel very welcome.

Onto the room, we knew that Lizzie and her husband had designed all of it themselves and this made it even more impressive to us. The room was packed full of engaging puzzles; creative, logical, physical, etc. As well as this, the setting, props and automated mechanics were outstanding. As a drama teacher, I often friend the pre-escape instruction videos cringeworthy with poor acting, however, this was not the case, and it was further enhanced by the setting and projection technique. The narrative of the room was well thought through and clearly linked to all of the puzzles; what’s even better is that they are planning to extend the narrative with two future rooms!

After we complete an escape room, we always have a debrief and we are very critical. However, we were full of praise in our debrief, with the only niggle being a loose wire connection holding us back in one of the puzzles - absolutely minimal and it did not stop us from escaping.

We highly recommend this room and advise you to split up and communicate effectively with your team.

Oh my wow, this is a doozy of an escape room, not for the faint hearted.

Like all of Tully’s escape rooms, the setting and props were outstanding; so well thought through and perfectly in keeping with the theme of the room. If you have never done a Tully’s room, I strongly recommend leaving this one until last as it is the biggest and hardest of the lot, the other rooms will help you to understand the puzzle style of Tully’s  which will really help.

There is so much content in this room it is unreal, it just keeps going and going! Top tip, split off if you want to beat this one.

Our Game Master was excellent at supporting us when we were stuck, leaving just the right amount of time to drop helpful hints, always in character as a ghostly voice.

Tully’s is not so much a narrative based escape room, but more focussed on theme based puzzles. however this is not a negative, there is an excellent range of puzzles that really get the cogs working. There are so many excellent surprises in this room, as well as clever puzzles I have not seen before in an escape room. The non-linear structure meant that everyone always had something to do and escaping this one felt like a real achievement!

This was a really fun and interesting escape room run by real enthusiasts that clearly love the industry. We were offered a drink upon entry as well as a small token prize at the end which really added to the experience.

The room itself focuses on an engaging narrative where you are miners trying to restart the Earths core, the miners hats were a lovely touch. The game master was in character throughout, guiding us through using walkie talkie; however there were times that this was a bit annoying as it stilted our flow.

The props and setting were well thought through with some really nice surprises...I’m not going to spoil them. There was a nice moment near the end where the host created tension with the group through the narrative and we all liked this.

We would have liked a few more puzzles , however, there were a good balance of logic and physical.

We visited during the pandemic, we felt safe and the staff wore masks/visors the whole time.
