Really nice looking room and had fun playing throughout. However a broken component right at the end of the game meant we couldn’t progress to finish. We were speaking to the GM for around 5 minutes saying it wasn’t working and got told it was and we were doing it wrong. When the timer ran out and the GM came in, they then came in and saw that it was broken and just sort of brushed it off which did spoil the ending of an otherwise good game.
A very original room. Nice start sequence

Red House Mysteries- On The Last Train To Paris
Overview
This was our first visit to Red House in Torquay after we had heard good things from both their rooms and decided to try the Last Train To Paris. Red House is located right in the centre of Torquay where there isn’t really any parking but you can park in the multi story just a couple of hundred yards away. They have a website where you can book your experience and the building itself is well labelled when you get nearby.
When you arrive at the venue, you easily follow the escape rooms sign through a couple of car parks. Our GM introduced herself and gave us a run through of what to expect and the theme of the room.
Room Impression
The theme of the room is meant to be a train travelling through the Channel Tunnel but it was more themed like a early 20th century carriage which we really didn’t mind at all. We were placed into a train carriage and it was a tight space to work in but with the puzzles quickly getting our focus, the tight space didn’t really matter all. The design and layout were really good in the room and you can quickly submerge yourself into the theme without too much trouble. Once we started solving some of the puzzles and moved through the experience it really did feel like we were on a train and we did enjoy ourselves.
Puzzles
We really enjoyed this game. It was the first time we had been separated up as a group and it was quite easy to interact with each other even though we we separated. We had to communicate really well to escape the compartments and the puzzles had a good mix of observation, maths and a bit of searching. As we have read on other review sites about this game, we are glad that others have also struggled with one puzzle in particular that doesn’t quite add line up right and it leaves you scratching your head for much longer then what it should. It really should be an easy fix to rectify this issue and although it didn’t put us of at all, it was highly frustrating.
We really enjoyed the end puzzle where it took all of us taking a difference part each to crack it and all components were working fine, unlike some other past reviews that have said it was slightly faulty. It seemed to work fine for us.
Games Master Clues
Walkie talkies were given to us to ask for hints and tips but how good would it have been to have had a tannoy announcement come over the carriage for help? We didn’t have to ask for much help in this one. Apart from when the previous puzzle we mentioned had us stuck and we really did need her help as we thought we were going wrong.
Round Up
The Last Train To Paris is easily up in our top 3 games that we have tried. We really enjoyed the theme and the game just flowed for us. The different compartments made it really enjoyable and was something very different from what we have previously done. We made it with about 3 seconds left to spare which I think added to the excitement of the room. Our host was really helpful and approachable and we would definitely come back to do their other room.
