Intense atmosphere, great hosting.
To do a room that is so lovingly incorporated into the real history of the building is something really special and every effort has been made to ensure details are historically accurate. Matt, our GM, clearly loves history and was keen to tell us all about the role of Canterbury during WW2.
The puzzles are lovely but it is all very much woven into the story that is being told here. Think of this as more of an experience - and an immersive, intense one at that - rather than a traditional escape room.
Very well executed theme in this room. Very good atmosphere.
A strong story element to this room set in a real comms room from WW2. I found it a tad frustrating as a team of 2 as it's a fairly linear room but everything is all in one place and it wasn't always obvious which bit you needed to look at next. This meant a fair amount of time rehunting round the room seeing which bits were ready to be used. But the puzzles were solid and it was really cool to see authentic props.
Its fantastic that they are able to take an original WWII comms room, and turn it into an escape game, and aligning puzzles as close as they could to this. That made the experience all the more immersive. It also got intense as you hear a sound and immediately rush to the scene. There a a nice story to it all and easter eggs throughout the room, that makes it really fun. The host, Matt, was smashing GM! I feel he could double as a TV game show host he was that great, entertaining and engaging. It definitely helped elevate and add to the experience.
This was more of a story driven experience than a traditional escape room, but this doesn't mean it was a bad room, quite the opposite.
There is a great use of multimedia to really immerse you in the WW2 environment it aims to replicate, and the story is historically driven with genuine period props.
Definitely a surprise, we really weren't expecting it to be what it was.
Also, bonus discount in the bar.
This is a wonderfully immersive experience that uses the history of the building to great effect. As its a listed building, there are limits to what can be done, but this has worked well as the room designers have stepped up the inventiveness and made a great game with wonderful sound and effect that really does have you turning around in the room to see where the sound is coming from.
The narrative is emotive and you soon become invested in the storyline and each seague works very well to frame each challenge and give additional context to the narrative. Loved it.
The fact you're in an original historic room used for comms during the war is such an immersive experience and the room is masterfully and cleverly contructed due to it being a listed building. The GM was a great host and spent time talking about the construction after the game. The puzzles were appropriate to the theme and room with logic and teamwork being at the forefront. The room is fun, clever and enjoyable.
Wow the set is amazing, host was incredible and really passionate about the war. He was even kind enough to show us around the tower after the escape!

We can’t say enough how much we loved this room. We never felt like we were playing a game, it actually felt as though we were saving War-era Canterbury, and the epic conclusion here is one not to be missed!
It took us a bit of time to decide which room we wanted to experience first, but logistics seemed to sort that out for us, and we booked the Comms Room – ready to try our hand at defending Canterbury! The first thing we have to mention is the set. The room is set in a genuine WW2 comms room and you can feel the authenticity as soon as you step through the door. It takes place in one room, but this space is jam-packed with so many puzzles, you wouldn’t have time to go anywhere else.
I couldn't help but draw comparisons between this room and our own "Escape the Diefenbunker" back home. Both rooms are leveraging a historical landmark by letting you play directly inside it. However, I have to say Canterbury gets the upper hand.
