It is 1675, China. You are the guards of KangXi, Emperor and great ruler of the mighty Qing Dynasty. The Emperor has many beautiful and priceless treasures in his palace but none so precious as his bronze vase. For legend has it, as long as the vase stays in the Emperors possession his dynasty will prosper and live on forever.
But, one night, whilst on your watch, the vase disappears. When the emperor wakes and finds out what has happened he is overcome with rage and blames you for its loss and orders your execution to be carried out the very next day.
That night, whilst sitting awake in your cell, a mysterious stranger comes to your aid. They break you out of your cell and lead to you a time machine. They tell you to travel forward in time, to the present day, to Room 33 of the British museum, where that exact same vase is now held. You will need to break into the museum, find and steal the vase, and escape back to the time portal before it closes in just 1 hours time.

Following our experience earlier that evening at Escape Entertainment London this room had a lot to do to restore my faith in rooms in the city and thankfully, it did. We'd had a good experience early on in our escape careers back in 2017 getting the record in their other room so we did have good expectations.
It's a fun non-linear room that's very on theme. Fun opening room. Lots of padlocks but some fun high-tech bits as well.
Great hosting. Can't quite remember our time, think it was around 45 minutes.
Accessibility - you need to be able to get up/down a staircase and crouch/crawl for one part of the game.
Escape Rooms are one of London's more longer-established escape venues. They have a good reputation and have just opened a second location in Angel with two new rooms, so it seemed like a good time to finally pay them a visit.
The plot of Room 33 is that you are 17th Century Chinese guards, and having carelessly allowed a priceless vase to be stolen, you have mysteriously been allowed to travel through time to the present-day British Museum, where you must steal the vase back. While that's one ...
Outside the room I'd been starting to get on a run of niceish locations, and Escape Rooms was no different. It's located just off Tooley Street, near London Bridge. It seemed like a well laid out venue, with great use of space. Upstairs there's a single (normal) room where they greet you and say their farewells, decorated Read More"
This room won’t blow you away but if you want a solid room that will give you an hours entertainment, then this is that (added bonus: free sweets!)
Room 33 is a museum heist game. You have to steal a vase from the British Museum! That’s the plot that you need to know, that’s all the set-up the game itself needs. But the Escape Rooms website and your briefing will explain to you that you’re from 1675, about to be executed by Emperor Kang Xi for losing his favourite vase, so obviously you travel back in time to the British Museum in modern day England to retrieve it from where it’s on display. The word “batshit” comes to mind.
