Very small room but theming was quite good. Although there was a large pentagram sticker on the floor which had half peeled up and curled that let it down and was a bit of a trip hazard. The briefing before the game took place inside the room in which the Game Host showed us around, which felt extremely awkward in such a small space. There were only two of us so I can't imagine what that room would have been like with a larger group.
I can see how the tech could work really well and make the room feel magical but it was extremely faulty and the Game Host had to pause the game abruptly to come in and fix one of the final puzzles. I understand that sometimes things break (though reading reviews this seems to be a common occurance) but there was no proper apology or attempt at playing a character (e.g. the wizard coming to fix his tools) which could have made the experience a little less jarring. We were also warned before the game that one of the first puzzles was tempramental and that we'd have to try a few times to make it work.
The story itself was confusing though there were some really nice concepts that if executed better would have made for an excellent room. It felt like lots of time, money and brain power had gone into the creating but maintinence had left it crumbling.
Outside of the room, during the sign in process we were asked to sign a piece of paper covered in other peoples emails which felt like a GDPR nightmare. The cafe area upstairs seemed to have no connection at all with the escape room and looked baffled when we asked if we just go straight downstairs for our game. Team photos were taken ouside the cafe toilets of which we could hear the hand driers throughout the game.
Magic themed rooms have never really been our thing as they seem to be overdone (obviously because they're popular) but we were very impressed with this little room tucked in the basement of a cafe/bar. Clever touches of magic and some nice puzzles. Worth a try (and the cocktails!)
A good concept and clever puzzles (when they worked) - it killed the game a bit for us when the host had to come into the room to fix the puzzle.
Was surprised by this given it's just in the basement of a cafe, but there was some really good tech in it and it was really immersive. We absolutely smashed it but didn't feel like we'd wasted our time or money.
A very cute room with some quirky features that took us by surprise! The puzzles are very straightforward but this room had some lovely bits and bobs we'd not seen before and there was a level of tech that we didn't quite expect.
