Can you help Terry to make Titterton’s toffees a Royal favourite?Titterton’s Toffees first opened their doors on Chapel street in 1933. They were soon to be regarded as one of the highest quality toffee makers in the country, eventually being awarded with a Royal warrant. They were a small family business and made almost everything in the back room of their shop. Things were going well for Titterton’s, they had great plans for the future with demand for their toffees increasing, and then the war arrived. Terry Titterton was just 8 years old at the time when he and his mother were left to run the shop alone after his father was called up to fight. As the war raged on and rationing came in to effect, the shop was sadly forced to close. Almost 20 years later Terry still reminisced about the days he spent watching his dear now departed parents making the toffee. On Wednesday 5 February 1953 the Food Minister announced in Parliament and to the Commons that ration and price control on chocolate and sweets had officially come to an end across the United Kingdom.Over the course of the next few months a flurry of sweet shops, small and large scale confectionery manufacturers sprung up across the country. Passing the old shop one day Terry noticed a for sale sign in the window, he peered through the cracked windowpane to view the dusty interior and to his astonishment the shop looked just as it did the last time he saw it!Terry bought the shop and started to clean the place up. News travelled to the palace that the Queen’s favourite toffee maker was reopening and she sent an order directly to Terry to produce some of her favourite toffees in time for her Coronation. All he needed now was to fix the old toffee machine and work out how to use it.Can you detectives help Terry get his parents once glorious toffee business back up and running?I think if we could start with making 6 boxes of toffees to send to the Royal household in time for the Queen’s Coronation, we might be able to get the Royal warrant reinstated, which would go a long way to once again making Titterton’s toffees a household name.

Justifiably one of the UK's most highly rated venues with a changing storyline around the same location that keeps on changing. This time we had to solve the mystery of the toffee shop and recover the missing toffee's... Puzzle design is absolutely flawless, rarely were we standing around not sure where to go as the sign posting is incredibly good. There's not much tech here so a lot of padlocks but the puzzles are so well designed you won't notice. Booking on can be hard but thats testament to its popularity. This should be on everyones play list.
My parter and I had wanted to try Escape Quest for quite some time as we'd been advised to go by many other Escape Room companies across the UK. We've only done about 100 rooms (going for quality not quantity) and Titterton's Toffees did not disappoint. The room itself was brilliant, really clever puzzles that were a slightly different take on what we'd seen before and the hosting was brilliant. You can clearly see these guys know what they're doing. We loved it so much we booked 2 more rooms in the upcoming months. I'd just wish we'd come here sooner!
Another great instalment of the Chapelgate Mysteries! Lots of different puzzles with a fair amount to get through in 60 minutes but we had lots of fun trying. Hosts as lovely and friendly as ever, it’s always a pleasure to visit and we can’t wait for the next one.
Was it ever in any doubt? Yet another top of the class showing from Escape Quest! The puzzles are second to none, and are just incredibly satisfying to solve without any spoon feeding. Just fantastic as usual from start to finish, what else is there to say?
