We were in Sheffield for something else and tried this as a 'walk-in' which they were really good to arrange for us and we thank them for this. The host was also very friendly and helpful throughout. The room was a little lacklustre... Most of the wooden puzzles were okay with number padlocks everywhere.  We got stuck on one particular puzzle which required a hint; the system is a bit basic with no sound notification that you have a message (which you can see the GM typing) , even after that we were no sure how it worked or what we were doing incorrect.Overall okay, but I wouldn't go out of my way to play...

Whilst this is an improvement on the previous Zoltan room, and there are some nice puzzles, I feel like a couple are a little too hard without help - and help was a little hard to give, given the location of said puzzle. Overall though, enjoyed the room.

We just ran out of time on this room while we were finishing the final puzzle - and I’m disappointed that we didn’t get out but not surprised. I think this room is difficult for a small team due to the nature of some of the puzzles (lots of info in different places e.g) but, to echo the other review, there is not enough for a big team to do at once.

The linear puzzles slow you down considerably and there’s no searching or real engagement with much in the room - by this I mean a lot if not all of these puzzles could be in a book or exit game for example.

There was one puzzle that really lacked care or clarity in directing the player and we did it about three times getting very different answers - and it was so long! It’s okay having a tricky or even a bit ambiguous puzzle if it’s not super time consuming to reset and try again 🫣

I think there’s potential for this room to be fun but the delivery was so disappointing including details like a room with super low light and yet detailed puzzles to complete in that area.

Hopefully they’ll troubleshoot this room and improve it over time but for now I would say it’s not worth the money 😕

Staff were super nice, though!

TLDR: Worth a visit, but lower your expectations.

Amazing new idea for a room, genuinely loved the storyline. However, the room was incredibly linear. I brought a team of 5/6  experienced players having done between 10-50 rooms each. I have now done all their rooms, and Crack the Code typically has one incredibly hard to understand puzzle,  and this room was no different.

All but one member of the group had to wait around while others did puzzles. We even had to be bypassed through one.

There was one cool puzzle to get the egg which I really liked as we did have to work together, so I'll give them that. I was super excited to do their new room thinking they might have learnt from their mistakes in previous rooms, but it's almost the same.

Clue system needs updated, as it is currently incredibly poor and has no sound or signal when you get a clue, which sucks. All their final exit doors are the same and have the same method of opening, which is a shame.

I think all Crack the Code's rooms have massive potential, just need a little updating, and every time I go the hosts are absolutely lovely.
