The Smeastone Lighthouse has been lit for hundreds of years, keeping traveling ships safe and helping spot any smugglers trying to sneak goods onto the shore.

Tonight, your smuggling crew are inbound with the jackpot, but they’ll only go unnoticed if you can do what time has not - turn off the light!

Arrangements have been made and the lighthouse keeper is away, but only for an hour. Get in quick and end up rich!

Looks absolutely fantastic! We really enjoyed how many puzzles there were and didn’t find that we were ever stood around too long.

Wrecked was a fun game, with enjoyable puzzles and a good flow. The first games we played as Escapism Plymouth were good, but it looks like they are always looking for ways to improve.

Escapism Plymouth: Wrecked

Overview

This was our third room in Escapism in Plymouth after completing Legacy and The Missing a couple of weeks before. Our host was Joe and they recognised us straight away after visiting recently. The waiting area is very minimalistic but clean and tidy where there are window benches to sit and wait but we have never been waiting that long to get started. There is a refreshment area and a big cabinet selling a lot of home escape games. Joe did a very quick run through padlock instructions but didn’t need to go into too much detail as we are well accustomed to padlocks by now 😉

Room impression

You are taken into a small room where we were given our briefing into what we were about to take on. There were some nice props scattered around the room to get us into the mood of the theme of Wrecked. There was a good amount of background noises to make sure the room wasn’t completely silent which is always nice as it adds to the atmosphere when you are deep in thought. Once into the main room, it is well lit and everything is decorated to a high standard, as we have come to expect from Escapism, especially with it being a new room.

Puzzles

We were intrigued to see what kind of puzzles were in Wrecked as we were told by the owners before we started that this is the room they have designed themselves. We would say the majority of the puzzles in the game are ‘classic’ escape room puzzles. Plenty of padlocks and a good mixture of different puzzles thrown in to mix it up nicely. Again, as we have become accustomed to escapism, there were a large variety of padlocks so you don’t end up running around trying a code in 20 odd padlocks, you are narrowed down by the different variety, which is nice. The puzzles were enjoyable and we managed to get through them all without much encouragement, apart from one, which really did have us stuck for quite long period of time. To the point that we thought it would stop us completing the game. It was completely our fault after Joe explained it to us after we had escaped, it reaffirmed that you need to make sure you are thorough!!

Game Master Clues

Joe was able to type on the tv timer screen to give us a nudge and he was happy to leave us to it as he could see that we do tend to flow through rooms well enough, on most occasions. When we did need the help in this one he was there to point us in the right direction without giving anything away. The tv makes a room themed noise if you do receive a hint to make sure you don’t miss it, which is a nice touch. As mentioned, the one puzzle had us stuck for a big chunk of time and Joe did have to give us a big hint to solve it but I don’t think we would have escaped if he hadn’t have done this.

Round Up

Escapism has become one of our favourite venues. We have loved the different themes in all their rooms we have done so far. The staff are really friendly and the rooms are of high quality. You can tell that the owners are really enthusiastic about their product and they always stop for a chat even if they are hosting other games. The rooms seem to have a nice array of difficulty for all types of teams. Definitely give them a try!!
