Escape Plan: Pushed for Time

This is our first game at Escape Plan and definitely won't be our last! I booked this after deliberating between two of the rooms, and wasn't disappointed in the choice.  It's increasingly difficult for rooms to be original with so much on the market, but this one definitely threw up several puzzles/ideas that we've not seen before.  

The main game mechanic is great fun and a bit special, and despite being quite obvious how it works, you still feel a little bit of magic as you move through the game areas and suspend your disbelief. The addition of being able to customise your experience in an audiable way was very fun too.  

The puzzles all made sense and we didn't need any clues at all (semi-rare for us). Everything flowed and the narrative was pretty strong as we went along. We didn't feel like we were just solving puzzles for the sake of it. The hosting was also good, I liked the jokes during the briefing. 

A fantastic game! A very unique set piece to add to the immersion and the transitions. Lots of great puzzles with lots of variety. Some really unique theming, scenery and objects throughout. The hosting added to the great game, as well as some bonus choices (that in no way affect your game) to bump it even higher. Well worth a visit!

We had an amazing time! The room featured a unique transition mechanic that was a fantastic change from the typical “open a door” approach—really creative and immersive. The puzzles were clever and well-designed, offering just the right level of challenge to keep things exciting. Hosting was spot on, adding to the overall experience. A thoughtfully crafted room that’s well worth a visit!

Very last minute booking welcomed by a lovely host - David. We love different and tactile ways of solving puzzles and locking things away and escape plan does this so well. We often find ourselves spending as much time in awe of these little contraptions as the puzzles themselves!. This game has a fairly unique story and some clever puzzles and mechanics, with moments of fun and humour and some great touches all topped off with great and welcoming hosting. Absolutely recommended. 

This was the room I was most excited for, especially after hearing so many glowing reviews and noticing the higher pricing, which naturally set my expectations high. However, surprisingly, it ended up being the room I enjoyed the least. That’s not to say it’s a bad game – far from it. For many, the time machine theme will be a real treat, especially if it’s their first encounter with it. For me, though, it felt a little familiar (reminding me of a certain game in Nottingham).

That said, there was one standout feature – a unique puzzle box that I’ve never seen before, which was a nice touch and something I really appreciated. It’s always great to encounter something new in an escape room.

The hype surrounding escape rooms can sometimes be a double-edged sword. When expectations are set so high, it can be difficult for any game to fully live up to them. While the experience was still enjoyable and well-crafted, it didn’t quite leave the lasting impression I’d hoped for. Ultimately, it’s a solid game – just not as groundbreaking or memorable as I had anticipated.

This is a really good room, with some brilliant puzzles. They're the best aspect of this room, and are super original without being over-reliant on tech. It has a nice linear flow, and a really clever 'niche' that really brings the room together. It could do with more of a focus on the decorative element, as the puzzles are so strong, that the decoration is slightly disappointing. Overall though I would highly recommend!
