Overview 

This was our first escape room oversees on a stunning trip to Krakow. Whilst Krakow isn’t really known as having a top notch selection of escape rooms, we none the less wanted to try a couple whilst we were away on a little city break. ExitRoom was a known name across a number of cities in Europe so we thought we would be in good hands. The only problem was, we picked the wrong room to start things off! 

The location wasn’t that hard to find although it was down a side street off the main square, it is well signposted. You go up a dark staircase that makes you question your life choices at the time, but once inside, it was big bright and spacious. There is a large waiting area with lockers for your belongings and we were given a quick brief into what we were about to tackle. We were intrigued with the over 18 rating for the room so that’s why we plucked for Sex Mission, again, this was an error. 

Room impression

As soon as you walk in, it is very minimalistic and clinical. There is nothing that gives the game away into what it is you should be doing to get going and it took us a long time to get going. We even had to ask for a hint right at the beginning due to the fact that there was nothing obvious to get us going. Once in the main room, it was like stepping back in time into a 1970’s adult movie. The props and decoration were in such a sad state of repair that the room looked tried and run down. This instantly put us off and a couple of the group switched off at this point. We were really disappointed with what we were faced with.

Puzzles

The game really did not flow for us at all. As mentioned, the first room was clinical and nothing gave us the impression that this was an escape room. Once into the main room, the games were linear with a mixture of everything thrown in but the state of the room and props just ruined the whole experience for us. We had to ask for quite a few hints and due to the games master having to dual run rooms, we didn’t always get a response when asked and we just became frustrated with the whole process and wanted the game to end as quickly as possible. The ending was one of the worst we have experienced in any room we have done and it summed up the whole experience of the puzzles for us.

Game Master Clues

As mentioned above, when we did have to ask for help through the walkie talkies, we did not always get a response. Our games master was overseeing more than one room and with the slight language barrier, it just did not work at all. We became frustrated with the process and just wanted the game to end.

Round Up

With this being our first game oversees, we don’t think we could have picked a worse room to try. We were lured in with the over 18 rating and we paid the price. In our opinion, the room needs a complete face lift and you could have made it over 18 without being as crass as it was. We were so glad we booked a second room with ExitRoom straight afterwards to give them another go because if we had just stuck with this one, we would have not returned.
