It’s war-time in 1942 and we need you to use your avatar to infiltrate the enemy tower. Once in, you must retrieve a package and then relay the enemy’s attack plan using morse code. You have a maximum of 60 minutes to achieve your mission and get out safely. Have you got what it takes?

tolles hostingziemlich leicht
A good game but made quite easy by the avatar. That being said, the avatar was full of beans and very funny. I can’t comment on the price as I played this room for free as part of a giveaway for NHS staff.

Very basic room. We opted for the add on VIP for £20 which was pretty disappointing, as it added 3-5 mins to the game. Some of the puzzles were very basic - including simply pressing a button. I don't think they should charge £20 extra for Mission 3 - in the real world it seems like you get to base jump off the building as a VIP, which would have been brilliant. We also had an issue with the booking system and were double-booked. We've had several issues with their customer service since the game, including querying their GDPR because they recorded our entire zoom call without asking permission.

Super smoothly run game with a great sense of adventure, smooth puzzle flow, and (in our case at least) a fun high-energy avatar. The "VIP" add-on is probably worth it for an extra spot of gameplay if you can spare the pounds.

Twinwoods is an adventure activity centre offering high-adrenaline pursuits such as skydiving, archery, and indoor surfing, and the defining feature of their real-life "Morse Code" escape room is (normally) its set-piece ending as players leap from a 125ft tower attached to a cord. Given the very physical nature of the game design, how then does Morse Code adapt to a remote play over Zoom? Well, it's obviously not the same experience, but its actually still remarkably fun when enjoyed through the eyes of a remote avatar.

The storyline is that of a British operative behind enemy lines during WWII - a very familiar setup, but one that at least lends itself to lots of instantly recognisable objects and thematic game interactions - intercepted mission plans, radio frequencies, wartime planes, gas masks, and suchlike. The puzzles themselves are also somewhat predictable - if you find a bomber jacket, you can be pretty certain of finding something in the pocket, and finding out a birthdate is likely to be the combination for a combo padlock. So, don't expect this to be a game that will shatter your preconceptions about escape room design.

However, while these common tropes may not challenge the boundaries of what is possible from a real-life escape room, when used in a remote avatar room this familiarity actually adds a benefit to the experience. The (literal) remoteness of players in video-mediated avatar-led rooms, and their inevitable sensory deprivation and disorientation means it's arguably not the correct place for designers to experiment with unusual and unexpected input or feedback systems - rather, everything in Morse Code behaved exactly as we expected it to - whenever we found a code or item we knew immediately how and where to ask our avatar to use it, and the game flowed seamlessly from start to end. Our team of 4 experienced players completed both objectives and the bonus 3rd objective in 42 minutes, and we had the opportunity to chat with our GM and avatar afterwards, who were both lovely.

The game took place over Zoom, and the video and audio quality were excellent. An inventory of any objects found in the game were added to a live webpage to enable them to be examined in more detail (there was a 360° view of the room, although we didn't end up using that), and all the tech worked flawlessly.

It wasn't particularly challenging, but it was fun, and we enjoyed making our avatar giggle by using our dodgy wartime accents. So, for an hour or so of casual puzzling escapism, I'd definitely still recommend it.

Maybe I'm getting spoiled because everything about this room seemed great but I came out of the overall experience  thinking it was just "ok".  Maybe it has to do with the surprise ending, where I think it'd be awesome in real life but doesn't really do anything for me just watching on video.  Definitely one of the better inventory management systems.

Our first virtual escape room experience (after 100+ in 'real life') and it was really well set up. The avatar did a great job guiding us through the experience allowing us to direct her to where we wanted to explore. She did well to hold the picture steady / move smoothly giving us as clear a picture as is possible over zoom without any motion sickness. She framed the room thoughtfully allowing us to see what was still open to explore and keeping useful items in shot. Also a nice touch that the picture switched to a whole room view when something in the room popped open so we could see it happening. The avatar did a great job to give subtle hints with her descriptions i.e. "humm this is a bit dark - maybe it needs power" but allowing us to be able to work out all the puzzles for ourselves. The online clue stash was super helpful and well thought through allowing us to have a close-up look at clues which popped up as we found them and then also disappeared when we had used them. For a venue which offers other outdoor adventure actives the escape room is really well thought through and not just an add on (if a little on the easy / straight forward side). In the bonus 'third mission' they actually bring these adventure elements into the game - while fun to watch would have been great to experience in real life. We completed the hour game in around 45 minutes finishing up the bonus elements in just under an hour. Would recommend this as a great experience with enough elements to make it interesting but simple enough to be enjoyed virtually.

This room works really well as a virtual game, the avatar is quick to respond and when its required the camera shot changes to a room view so that an effect in the room can be seen. The inventory system is clear and updates quickly, and more importantly it automatically removes used items so it doesn't get clogged up with information.
The camera quality is excellent so the detail of puzzles can be seen and puzzles are logical and fit the theme, and the game flows well. A great room for family groups and first timers, but enthusiasts will find it easy.

This room went beyond our expectations with a great avatar, fun puzzles, good set design and a one-of-a-kind ending. If you get a chance, play this game
Gordon from Review the Room contacted me to join him and his wife Liz on this avatar led escape room, having never played one before, I was apprehesive but excited and grabbed the bull by the horns (so to speak) and gave it a go!
