You know what?! GO TO HELL!
Not quite what you thought? It’s a bit late… This is the point of no return.
You wanted to know something about heaven and hell. But to do this, like all mortals, you would need to die first.
This time you’re lucky: hibernating yourselves is enough. At the end of the adventure, you have to use a defibrillator so that you can come back to life…

A few standout moments in this room that really tie into the theme. Really enjoyed all of the puzzles and the distinct nature of the different sections of the game.

originalkomisch

The puzzles were original and fun, with a good storyline. The set design came across childish and cheap which will either be appreciated or frowned upon depending on taste. I would say this is one to play based on originality alone

heftig

Great room, although the set was dated and props seemed a little cheap.  Good concept though and a good mix of puzzles

Played this in 2020 - still sticks in my mind as one of the most memorable rooms - specifically for one particular method of transition! The theming was brilliant

A venue with one great game and two that are solid but not exciting. Heaven & Hell is one of the stand out games in Budapest and should be on your to do list but only visit the other two if you’re doing 20+ games.
During the last year, we have visited Budapest not one, not two, but three times. We fell in love with the capital of Hungary because of its hip look & feel, the great amount of awesome and diverse restaurants & bars and most of all, the huge number of Escape Rooms. We will kick-off our Budapest Escape […]

E-Exit Budapest- Heaven and Hell

October 2023

Overview

The second room we tackled at E-Exit after the highly successful Secret Subway and it was time for us to take on Heaven and Hell. Our host was warm and enthusiastic and we genuinely got the sense that she was passionate about the rooms they offered and was hoary talking to us for a long time bore we actually got going. The reception area was a decent size to sit and fill out relevant paperwork and to have a glass of water before cracking on.

Room impression

As you can imagine, the theme was based on being dead and trying to make your way to the light, staying away from the darkness of hell. The set was cleverly designed and a lot was handmade. We would probably say that out of all the rooms we did, this was the least immersive but there was a lot of detail in the room and clearly a lot of effort had gone into it. One thing to note, there are two points in the game that you are required to go into a very tight space. If this isn’t for you then just let the game master know and you can skip past these bits.

Puzzles

No padlocks in this game to mention, predominately mechanical and searching for clues. The atmosphere was quite dark in places which made the puzzles all that more difficult but not impossible. There was plenty to do for all 4 of us and at no point were any of us left stood around a watching. There were some fun elements to the game as well, all in all, quite enjoyable.

Game Master Clues

We were given a walkie talkie to communicate with the host if we needed, however, in this game we didn’t require any guidance with the room.

Round Up

Despite us still being on a high following the previous room (Secret Subway), despite not being as god aesthetically, we did still enjoy it. It was a different theme than what we have done before and we all did find it quite challenging in places. The room is rated as a 5/5 difficulty, which we feel is a little high but it is still quite challenging. If you are a relatively small experienced team visiting Budapest, give it a go.

Playing on a different occasion to Chris's visit, my experience matched his in some respects and contrasted in others. Our group did in fact include someone who was quite uncomfortable with the more claustrophobic moments of the game, but the gamemaster was happy to help her bypass the one section that she'd have struggled with.

We had similar problems with the opening puzzle, spending ten minutes stuck until we swallowed our pride and accepted a hint. Both that and the other times we struggled...

The original Heaven and Hell in Budapest is an immensely popular game, and this version of it in the UK has been faithfully recreated in case anyone can’t make the trip out to Central Europe. We really enjoyed our experience at Heaven and Hell, and spent a lot of the trip back into London discussing which was our favourite of the two we played at Cambridge Escape Rooms, this one or The Secret Clubhouse.
