Hostage Hideout is hosted in a room in a pub, which is a sensible arrangement for an escape room since it neatly provides a waiting area that's more spacious and better served than most rooms can manage.
This is a game created and run by enthusiasts, and it shows in a couple of ways. Firstly, this is a low-tech game, with a modern setting and a variety of padlocks, and pretty much no hidden electronic mechanisms. There's a good deal of searching and several puzzle types that we've seen in other...
A game that took escape room logic to a whole new level with me continually feeling a disconnect between the very specific storyline they'd chosen and the nonsensical puzzling we performed. If you ignore that, there are a variety of enjoyable puzzles with one or two that you'll find novel as well as one that you might find incredibly frustrating. Beautifully hosted with clues provided at appropriate moments.
This was a fun room and although basic at times it still has enough to keep you going, although I wouldn’t recommend playing with a large group
In a world where so many escape game companies have fairly boring names, I do admire the sheer simplicity of Do Stuff Escape Games. Hey you? Thinking of doing nothing today? Why don’t you do stuff? Like an escape game maybe?
Stuff just got real: this escape room sees a gun-wielding attacker holding people hostage in a London shopping centre! Will solving some puzzles somehow rescue them?
Wonderful hosts make this a memorable game. Innovative puzzles. Quite cramped inside. A couple of defects.
