Inspired by the story of the Martins Bank gold where during World War 2 the bulk of England's gold was moved to Martins Bank in Liverpool. Some of the gold is thought to have been stored at Western Approaches and some believe it is still there. Can you solve the mystery of the missing gold and escape the secret bunker within the allotted hour?

The room is set in a part of the dormitory that was used during WWII so there is definitely an atmosphere there when you get in the museum but it soon get lost by the absence of theatrical introduction and the lack of background music or sound that would allow you to feel the tension of the story. The room is introduced in the corridor with no real atmospheric attempt to make you feel like soldiers on a mission. The room itself is following a very linear design, which is usually not the sign of a great escape room: no way of dividing the tasks so if it's 2 or 6 of you, you will all be expected to stay on the same puzzle until you solve it. A couple of puzzles were pretty cool with some historical background or skill involved but the rest of them were either blend or didn't really make sense. (for example the very first puzzle was a bit far-fetched and there was no way for the Escapists to find the answer if they didn't hear or listen to the introduction... We had to ask for a clue as after 15 minutes we were still trying different codes on the 10 different padlocks that were scattered around the room.) Yes, 10 padlocks for 10 puzzles, you get what you see but not really what you paid for. No Tada moments, no high fives burst of joy. We walked back home a bit disappointed despite the great kindness of the team and host working at the venue. They said they have room for 5 more rooms but they should probably think about making bigger quality rooms than 6 small one-room-only rooms. We would only recommend it to first time players wanting to warm up on a linear room before trying out the more notorious ones in Liverpool.

A room with excellent theming, and OK puzzles.
