The City Historian loves to gaze out of his office window overlooking Norwich’s magnificent 900-year-old marketplace, but today there is no face at the window and the historian hasn’t been seen for days. The poor fellow has locked himself in the secure archive vault. He ate the last fluff-covered boiled sweet from his pocket hours ago and his cup of tea didn’t last beyond the first day!
Crammed full of puzzles, curios, stories and surprises, his office contains clues to unlock the vault, and only you can save him before he becomes part of history himself.

Located in Norwich's historic Guildhall building, all seven of of us enjoyed ourselves for a well-spent hour.

Archived Alive played rather like TV's Treasure Hunt, but sadly without the helicopter. There was plenty of looking things up in conveniently placed books to facilitate the solving of puzzles based on the Fine City's rich history. Rather a lot defaulted to working out the codes of combination locks, but certainly the experience combined entertainment and education. There was plenty to occupy all seven of us, four adults and three teens, throughout. As it happened, we fell several minutes behind schedule - perhaps due to inexperience - and ended up a little way short of completing.

Thanks also to the friendly and well-informed staff.

In Archived Alive! your mission is to rescue the local historian, who has managed to lock himself in the vaults. As he explains to you in the intro video, the poor fellow has been there three days without food or water, and since he's also worried about his research being stolen, everything in his office is locked behind a series of cryptic clues.

Accordingly, the game is set in a room that looks convincingly like the office of a somewhat disorganised academic. The room is however in Norwich's ...

A game that felt a little bit confused but was rescued by a very solid GMing performance. If you're playing at History Mystery then I'd recommend their other game which is superior in terms of setting, puzzles and immersion.
I loved the set-up for Archived Alive from the first time I read it, just for it’s glorious silliness: The City Historian is trapped in the archive vault. He ate the last fluff-covered boiled sweet from his pocket hours ago and his cup of tea didn’t last beyond the first day!
