A couple of standout puzzles but some that fall flat. Overall a fun time if you don't mind taking a couple of hints.

We found this box on sale - in English which is not our first language. This was our first EXIT box. We bought two others at the same time.

The story of a time traveller in a museum was great!

The first puzzle felt broken since there was a variation of how you could place things and read different codes from that, but other than that we only had one problem - language. One puzzle asked us something related to what a cockerel says. We simply did not know.

The end puzzle was really nice. I won't spoil it here.

I think this box would have been really fun with children around. I can imagine the awe they would be in for the end puzzle. We were also entertained, but not in awe.

In Exit's ever-expanding range, Mysterious Museum is pitched to be less challenging, intentionally one of their easier games. Puzzle difficulty is a very subjective matter, but Museum is made more approachable by being much more linear than their normal style. That's a reasonable and sensible change, but in practice I was unimpressed with the result.

In a typical Exit game, you have a booklet of clues to leaf through, with different pages being relevant to different puzzles. In addition, you'll...

On balance, The Mysterious Museum has some strong pros (such as the theme and the quality) but let down by the puzzles and flow. So in a nutshell, it wasn’t my favourite EXIT game. I am however a big enthusiast when it comes to their other games, so I’ve no doubt this is just a small blip with particularly styled puzzles that our team struggled with on the day.

Exit: The Game’s The Mysterious Museum was one of our favorites of the series… and it completely caught us off-guard. The name and packaging looked painfully drab and unappealing, so much so that it sat on our shelf collecting dust for about a year. It turned out that this boxed escape game was actually a clever time travel story.
We would recommend this game for a smaller group looking to do something for an hour or so.
